Caught on tape!

It's bad to be a corrupt Democrat. It's probably much worse to be a stupid corrupt Democrat:
A congressman under investigation for bribery was caught on videotape accepting $100,000 in $100 bills from an FBI informant whose conversations with the lawmaker also were recorded, according to a court document released Sunday. Agents later found the cash hidden in his freezer.

At one audiotaped meeting, Rep. William Jefferson, D-La., chuckles about writing in code to keep secret what the government contends was his corrupt role in getting his children a cut of a communications company's deal for work in Africa.

As Jefferson and the informant passed notes about what percentage the lawmaker's family might receive, the congressman "began laughing and said, 'All these damn notes we're writing to each other as if we're talking, as if the FBI is watching,' " according to the affidavit.

Go read the whole thing. If this was a Republican, you know Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and every MSM reporter would be demanding the release of the videotape.

BTW, the corruption investigation of Rep. Jefferson is outlined in Chapter 8 of DONKEY CONS.

C'mon, Nancy: Tell us again about that Republican "culture of corruption"!

This is classic:
Jefferson's lawyer, Robert Trout, contended that the prosecutors' disclosure was "part of a public relations agenda and an attempt to embarrass Congressman Jefferson. The affidavit itself is just one side of the story which has not been tested in court," Trout said in a statement.
This is when you'd love to be an FBI spokesman: "This is not part of an attempt to embarrass Congressman Jefferson. This is part of an attempt to send him to federal prison."

Darn that Don Surber! He's always beating me to the good stuff; in this case, Surber notices how Congressman Jefferson took those bribes ... for the children.

OK, Don, but I'll beat you to this one:
It takes a village to bribe a Congressman!

Being that Jefferson was caught on videotape by a female informant wearing a wire, you know everyone will invoke former D.C. Mayor Marion Barry's famous line, "Bitch set me up!"

Windigo sez: "Quick, play the race card -- it's your only hope!!" Yeah, the race-card clock is now ticking. I'm guessing the race card will be on the table no later than 6 p.m. Monday, probably played by the Congressional Black Caucus, although maybe Mayor "Chocolate City" Nagin will step up to play it first.

College Conservative: "The culture of corruption in the Democrat Party is clear." Yeah, CC, we wrote a whole book about it!
