Constructive dialogue

Lynn and I always welcome inquiries and suggestions — which is why we publish our contact information — but we occasionally get e-mails that are not very helpful. For instance, today I received this e-mail message:
You should be pleased with your prostituted activities in attempting to destroy America. TRY A LITTLE TOLERANCE ; WIPE HATE FROM YOUR MIND.
The problem with such a message is its lack of specificity, as I explained in my reply:
Thank you so much for writing. Unfortunately, you failed to specify exactly how I am "attempting to destroy America." Nor did you specify how you had inferred that I was motivated by "hate." Thus, if you wished to engage in a discussion, I confess that I cannot imagine how to begin my response, given the lack of specificity I have noted.

Please write again, making reference to any evidence which you might adduce to support your charges.

If there is something you wish to discuss, please be specific. "Attempting to destroy America" is a tough job -- don't try it at home, kids, this man is a trained professional -- but mind-reading is beyond even my amazing abilities.
