Riehl on Wilkes (Cunningham connection)

Dan Riehl has done some research on Brent Wilkes, the guy behind the "Duke" Cunningham scandal. I would point out that, given the Supreme Court's interpretation that campaign cash is protected as a form of free speech, the issue is not what Wilkes gave, but what he got in return. In the case of Cunningham, it was a quid pro quo that sent Cunningham to federal prison. Nothing wrong with giving money to politicians, but if they're returning the favor with pet policies or pork, then you're talking corruption.

An important story to watch, as it seems both parties are tuning up for a summer-long marathon of "Dueling Scandals."
